My Colony 0.27.0 Release Notes
#1
Rejoice!  Your weekly My Colony update has arrived in the form of the glorious 0.27.0 release.  Here is what is new:

My Colony v0.27.0 Changelog

New Stuff
  • New Structures: Charcoal Pile, Alien Power Tower
  • You can now rename colonists.  Click on one and choose Rename
  • 7 new keyboard bindings, plus map scrolling using arrow keys
  • On the Web version, maps can now be exported in plain text format
  • Added Achievements.  There are 9 available so far
  • Added Autosave Frequency settings to the Engine Settings menu
Changes
  • Major change to Scroll wheel zooming sensitivity when using Apple "magic" mice
  • More bug fixes related to false positive cheat banning
  • Added several new pre-defined colonist names, based on forum users who unlocked the crazy expensive statue from the last update
The achievements are accessed by opening the side menu while on the title screen.  On Google Play and iPhones, they use the system achievement ecosystems.  There are currently 9 achievements and users with established colonies should have them unlocked all right off the bat, but they will be more meaningful for new users.  More will be added as time goes on.  On Android and iOS, they allow you to divvy out 1000 achievement points, and I think the game currently uses under 200, so I have a lot to add yet.

Alien power tower looks nice. Smile Is there a way to get helium-3 without buying it on the GBT/Galactic Freight?

Sort of, you can buy regolith and refine it to Helium 3 at your own base.
This allows you to keep a much larger stock of potential fuel, but you still can't really be fully self sufficient. The alternative of course is to make a lunar sub colony and gift regolith or helium 3 to your main colony from there.

Why did I read this and wonder why I can't just take He3 from my terraformed planet, now I've read too much about how He3 is different than 4 and my head hurts and I remember why I hated chemistry.

Is there any chance of getting a better food place in the next update?
Looks nice, can't wait to build some power towers.

I would like to see a way to convert the obscure amount atmosphere and civic into something else, maybe He3 this case.

Yeah, civics and atmosphere get useless eventually, except for alien condensers.

I think once you get to a certain number of colonists, its too much for the game to handle
avatar
Ive found it best to 1. Fire Drill 2. Return to Title 3. Reload page 4. Load game
avatar
screw it ill just reload to before the god damn firedrill and stop trying to grow that colony. . . shame
avatar
yeah i think its actually that protesting crap thats bugged it up. . . . there where initially 200 or so protesters a with 2000 unhappy. . . now since hitting firedrill its gone up to basically 80% of population is unhappy. more than 12000 sick [initially 366 before firedrill] . . . basically since the protesters are occupying the same space essentially overloading game, it reduced the game speed and just bugged it up so that it completely collapses in on itself thats a great bloody system right there
avatar
Try saving and reloading? That fixed it for me when a fire drill seemed to take forever to put people back to work
avatar
cant even starve them to death because i have a huge stockpile of food, cant sell the stuff or send it to my other basis because of all the bloody trade restrictions
avatar
is there anyway to kill all my colonists. . . i hit the firedrill button to move the citizens around and its likely to take 1 - 2 years [realtime] until the games back working . . . hit it 1 hour ago its only 1% people housed / employed now out of 36000 people
avatar
Done

Thanks, filing report now.

Is there a topic on proper bug reporting procedure?
avatar
And that's it. Brilliant!!!!
avatar
I did try to flip the new tall food building, that might be it. Let me try it
avatar
OK, going "flat" works.
avatar
Hmm...let me try that
avatar
it happened to me before when i flipped a type of building and i guess it didn't have a flipped sprite ready for it. its long fixed now but what you're experiencing sounds like it.
avatar
@jomaxro darn...i have an issue similar to that before. try click the transparency mode button and see if anything changes..
avatar
So I've run into a strange issue after updating to .36 on the Desktop - when I load any save or backup it loads, but everything is black. The resource data appears at the top, as does the building menu on the right, but I can't see my colony
